Spring Seminar and AGM 2015

The SLARI Spring Seminar and AGM will be held on Friday 24th April 2015 in Pearse St Library from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm. Our speaker is Chris Powis and he will talk about teaching skills for school library staff. ‘Be Prepared! Planning for School Inspections and Literacy Promotion’

9:30 am Registration

10:00 am Christina Clarke will speak about literacy and School Self-Evaluation

11:00 am Coffee break

11:30 am Charles Quain, Interleaf, will speak about Leabharlann, a new e-books platform for schools. There will also be a draw where one school represented at the conference will win a year’s free access to Leabharlann for the 2015 calendar year. All other schools represented at the conference will be entitled to a 10% discount on their 2015 subscription to Leabharlann.

11.50 am Mary Gilbride will speak about inspections

12.10 pm Information Sharing session

There will be an opportunity to ask questions of speakers after all presentations. There will also be an opportunity to browse and purchase books at the International Education Services and Axis Education stands. All conference attendees will be entered into a draw to win Axis Education’s top selling ‘Fight Club’ set, worth €159.99.

Report on Conference: Libraries and the new Junior Cycle

The SLARI Conference which was held in Pearse Street Library on Friday 22^nd November had as its theme the new Junior Cycle.

Mick O’Riordan, Regional Advisor to the JCSP, told us of some great ideas that are currently being done by librarians in schools all over the country.
